ABOUT THE CD.....Never Too Soon - December 6, 2005
Julia Baucke’s debut album, appropriately titled, “Never Too Soon”, includes 10 original songs. All songs were written by Julia, with the exception of “Like You Love Me Now”, written by Julia and Kenny Edwards (Bryndle). Five of the songs were recorded and produced by Grammy-nominated Kevin McCormick. Kevin has been Jackson Browne’s producer and bassist for years, and has also produced CDs by Keb Mo’, Nils Lofgren, Julia Fordham, and Melissa Ethridge. The five songs produced by Kevin feature the incredibly artful playing of Jackson Browne’s band members, including Mark Goldenberg on guitar, Jeff Young on keyboards, Mauricio (Fritz) Lewak on drums, and of course, Kevin McCormick on bass and assorted instruments. These songs also feature Phil Salazar on fiddle and Lucinda William's drummer, Jim Christie, on drums.
The other five songs were produced by Santa Barbara Producer, Robinson Eikenberry, and feature Kenny Edwards (on guitar, bass, and mandolin), and George Pendergast (former drummer of Dishwalla) on drums. Kenny Edwards (co-founder of The Stone Poneys, along with Linda Ronstadt and Bobby Kimmel, and a member of Bryndle with Karla Bonoff, Wendy Waldman and Andrew Gold).
Julia’s CD was mastered by soundtrack Grammy winner Gavin Lurssen (“O Brother Where Art Thou”), at The Mastering Lab in Los Angeles, CA.
With songs that feature a unique way with words and melodies that stay with you in the shower, Julia’s style of contemporary & alternative folk blends with elements of pop and rock to provide a style that’s both intriguing and direct. With influences drawn from Shawn Colvin, Emmylou Harris, Patti Griffin and Aimee Mann, Julia exerts a fresh, honest sound that speaks directly to the heart. Her rich voice and the CD’s array of incredible musicians provide a welcome backdrop for her ten original heartfelt songs. Songs that give a new bent on familiar themes of life, love, and the daily challenges we face when following our dreams.
